About Awake Christians

“Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:33, ESV)

Who Are Awake Christians?

For many years there are Christians who have been rather dissatisfied with the world and what is going on, and with the response of their church leaders to world events.

Some church leaders have gone along with the government rules, even when those rules clearly are against the Bible. As Christians, it is imperative that we follow the Word of God rather than church leaders or any government. Too many people have followed the official narrative of the state in preference to the Bible. God is not pleased with those who neglect to listen to Him.

When we are in a situation that is unclear on what to do, we must turn to the principles of the Holy Bible to guide us. In the First Century Church, at one time some of the apostles were arrested and taken before the local authorities, and told to stop preaching about Jesus Christ. We can read it in Acts 5:27—29 (ESV): “[27] And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, [28] saying, We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. [29] But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’ ”

Who Do We Follow?

It should be clear from what the Apostle Peter stated that we follow God rather than men. Our Saviour is Jesus Christ, not a country’s leader or ruler. Too many governments are demanding that people follow their new laws which go against the Bible, and are persecuting those who resist. And too many church leaders are too scared to resist, and so they acquiesce to the evil overreaching by their government, looking to men rather than to Christ.

We also read later in Acts 5, in verses 40 to 42, the attitude of the apostles at that time: “[40] and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. [41] Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. [42] And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”

The apostles did not acquiesce to evil. They were told one thing, considered it an honour to suffer for doing what was right, and continued to teach people that Jesus is our Saviour. How many churches are doing this? How many church leaders are willing to face persecution and suffer for the Gospel? There seems to be a lack of such leaders today.

For that reason we have set up this website, to encourage those who are struggling with the current world events, who want to follow Christ rather than man, and who want to be counted worthy of Christ, to be persecuted if necessary for the sake of Christ and being a Christian.
